Melbourne is tough right now. You can’t do much. So instead I’m doing a lot of things I would usually find at the bottom of my ‘to-do list’. Vacuuming the floors (at least twice a week). Walk really slow (‘cause I’ve got nowhere to be). Make Kombucha (haven't died from food poisoning yet). And finally get around to polishing off that terrible clear coat they put on Harley Forks (which only lasts one 100km trip before it gets all chipped, battered and looking like Clint Eastwood’s 90 year old elbow).

If you’ve ever met a true entrepreneur you know they never have one idea floating in their head at a time. That’s a description which fits Tesha Mahoney (@_tee.money_) pretty damn well. Co-founding The Boogaloo, kickstarting her own clothing and accessories label Mother Lover and now embracing the realms of painting and photography – after chatting with Tee you’re bound wanting to do even more in life, and do it creatively.⁣

Driving through Castlemaine you’re quickly taken back to another era. Old bank buildings, churches converted into nurseries and signs reminding you this is ‘Street Rod Centre of Australia’. The perfect residing place for the couple who kickstart pre ’65 hot rod and pre ’84 chopper show, tours and campout, The Boogaloo.⁣⁣

A window was made available during Melbourne’s crazy lockdowns and I was able to shoot style-queen, Emma Hosmer (@the.indigo.alchemist), to chat about her family car which was sold long ago, but due to fate has ended up back in her very own driveway.

If you’re rocking an Instagram handle like @aushotrods, there better be a bit of candy sitting in the garage. Luckily enough for us, Sean Hammond knows how to live up to a name.⁣

I first met @michaellelliott a few years back. We sat at a cafe with no agenda but to talk about motorbikes. Since then we’ve rode thousands of kilometres together across parts of Australia to the soundtrack of our pipes.

Finally I tracked down the guy who inspired this project. I mean who wouldn’t want to sit down with a cowboy and knock back some spicy liquor?⁣

This one was worth the drive. Last weekend I escaped the big smoke to the farming township of Shepparton, to catch up with @rod_north and take his car for a spin, the 1957 air cooled, Porsche 356a.⁣

They say you should always trust your gut, and my gut was telling me I was in for a little treat when @brookjames_ sent me a couple of photos of his ’69 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback agreeing to do a shoot and drink some rum.⁣

I decided to do a new thing. A thing where I meet with friends or yet to be friends and photograph their classic car while having a yarn over some spiced rum.⁣
